After being asked by a follower “what must a woman have for a man to perform oral sex on her,” as spread by La Vanguardia.

The controversy went viral, and even became a trending topic on Twitter.

A recommendation that has left no one indifferent: “It must smell very clean and perfumed,” he pointed out through a story in his Instagram profile, and added: “Recommendation: take a shower first if you can… Anecdote: I had an ex-girlfriend who did douches with a little expert with water and Listerine when she bathed. Take some advice there.”

After raining criticism on his commentary, the doctor explained that with his publication he only wanted to promote “hygiene of the vaginal area for both women and men” and that he only recommended being a little cleaner at the time of having sex. “It’s just an anecdote, I’m not recommending douching, these are questions for fun and pure sarcasm.”

In fact, several health professionals have come out in the news and warned that they do not recommend douching because it reduces the acidity of the vagina and can lead to an imbalance with the vaginal flora that causes infections by microorganisms such as fungi or other bacteria.

The main use of douching is to clean the female vagina by filling a douche bag with water and pouring it inside the vagina (sometimes even choosing to mix the water with other liquids such as perfumes, antiseptics (like Listerine, or vinegar).

Many women choose to ‘wash’ their vagina for different reasons ranging from trying to eliminate vaginal odor, preventing pregnancy, eliminating body fluids, or trying to reduce the chances of getting a sexually transmitted infection.

However, it is not safe. Not only has science demonstrated that douching does not achieve any of these objectives, but frequent washing of the vagina can have dangerous health consequences since it eliminates the vaginal flora, which is responsible for keeping the vagina healthy; allowing bacteria and pathogens to multiply.
