The Florida Public Service Commission will review Florida Power & Light’s (FPL) request to charge an additional average of $ 6.82 per account beginning January 1.

According to the official report of the state price regulator, FPL  requested approval in order to raise 810 million dollars during 2022, in view of the increase in the price of natural gas that is used to generate part of the electricity, reported ClubdeVenezolanos.

The power company assured that “it has tried to limit fuel costs by taking measures such as expanding the use of solar energy and upgrading power plants to operate more efficiently.”

Currently, FPL provides electric service to almost half the state, some three million homes, plus commercial premises.

Just a month ago, the state price regulation commission approved an additional average of $ 12 for those who use more than 1,000 kWh per month, for four years, starting January 1.
