Truck driver had a scare when a light pole fell on him in Miami Beach

This Wednesday, a truck driver had a scare when he was passing by a street in Miami Beach and saw a light pole fall on him.

The incident occurred exactly on 14th Street between Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, authorities reported.

Security video from one of the buildings showed the light pole falling on the Penske truck as it passed by on 14th Street.

Truck driver was not injured

After the incident, the truck driver, who was not identified, was unharmed by the fall of the pole. But with a big scare.

Some of the residents of the buildings near where the event occurred gave their testimony of what happened.

“All of a sudden, I hear a boom. I look out the window and there was a light pole on top of a truck,” commented ” Jane Krupp.

Others were more daring and had the opportunity to capture images at the time of the incident.

Incident under investigation

Melissa Berhtier, spokesperson for the City of Miami Beach told the media that the incident is under investigation.

“This is highly unusual and our public works department is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause of the failure. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle was not injured, ” spokeswoman Melissa Berthier wrote in an email.

The pole is expected to be repositioned in the next few days, so that street lighting will be fully active.
