This Wednesday it became known that the famous Colombian artist, Sofia Vergara will have a new challenge by starring in a series of the genre “Narcos” and where she will play Griselda Blanco.
Blanco was a drug trafficker, who was nicknamed “the black widow”, she was in command of several cartels until her assassination in 2012.
“Griselda” as the series that will be on the streaming platform will be called, will be produced by Eric Newman, who has produced several films of this genre such as the life of Pablo Escobar. In addition, there will also be the New Granada filmmaker Andrés Baiz.
An important challenge for Sofia Vergara
The renowned actress from Granada, indicated that she has prepared herself in all areas, to perform a personification at the height.
“Griselda Blanco was a character whose ruthless but ingenious tactics allowed her to lead a billion dollar empire years before many of the more notorious drug lords we know so much about,” Vergara said in a statement.
The woman was a pioneer in using strategies to export narcotics to the United States, where she was imprisoned for almost two decades after her arrest in 1985.

Blanco was a founding member of the Medellín cartel and acquired enormous power in the world of drug trafficking in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Filmmakers wanted to expose Blanco’s life
The figure of Griselda Blanco had been interesting to the great Latin American filmmakers and Hollywood studios for years.
In 2019, the STXfilms company announced that it would make a film about his life titled “The Godmather.”
The film starred the famous actress of Puerto Rican origin, Jennifer López. But it is still unknown when this project will be released, which is also expected to be controversial.
The drug trafficker who was considered one of the richest women in the world died in 2012, after being murdered in a butcher shop in Medellín.
