Miami-Dade is encouraging qualified parents to sign up for the child tax credits and advance payments decreed in March by the American Rescue Plan.

Most families automatically receive credit payments for children, but “non- filing ” households, which generally do not file income taxes, must confirm that they meet the criteria, and the deadline is this Monday, November 15, reported Telemundo51 .

Families who have not filed a tax return for 2019 or 2020 will need to claim the incentive at https://www.getctc.org/en , or at https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/advance-child -tax-credit-payments-in-2021 .

“The 2021 Child Tax Credit can be a lifeline for so many families still struggling to recover from the pandemic, so they can buy food, pay rent or any outstanding bills ,  said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Digging.

The latest stimulus package increased child tax credits from $ 2,000 to $ 3,000 for children ages 6 to 17; for children under 6 the child credit is $ 3,600.

To receive full payment, families must have reported joint income of less than $ 150,000 per year, and heads of household must earn less than $ 112,500. Single parents must have an income of less than $ 75,000 per year.

Since July 15, they have been issuing advance payments of this credit for children ($ 250 for each child between 6 and 17 years old and $ 300 if they are less than 6 years old), an option that was approved in the rescue plan.

Miami-Dade County has set up sites to help parents enroll and receive the benefit. Help centers are at:
