Cuban producer and director  Arquímedes Rivero, known as “the czar of telenovelas” died at the age of 91 in the United States this Thursday, December 2.

The information was released by journalist Roger Izzedin, through Twitter, ElNacional reported .

Arquímedes Rivero arrived in Venezuela  in 1954 invited by relatives who already resided in the country. After arriving in Caracas, Rivero fell in love with the city and decided to stay. Four years later he would acquire Venezuelan nationality. Since then, he started working in the entertainment industry.

«Since there were so many actors in Cuba and little money was earned, I decided to settle in Caracas, where I was hired by Radio Rumbo. Here we made the famous radio soap opera Martín Valiente, the godson of death ”, Rivero commented on his beginnings in an interview with Globo News.

After his success in the radio soap opera, he arrived at Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) in 1969, where he produced dozens of soap operas. His name appeared among those responsible for the success of La usurpadora, Domenica Montero, La indomable and an endless list of productions that he later renamed Televisa.

Starting in 1988, Arquímedes Rivero went to work for Venevisión, where he had a fruitful career as a soap opera producer. «They were many years in a stellar plan. It was a golden age in that country that I love and remember so much, the Venezuela of my triumphs, “said Rivero in the interview with Globo News.

Rivero moved to Miami seven years ago, from where he continued to dream of continuing to reap triumphs and make a telenovela in Spain with Penélope Cruz and Fernando Colunga.
