Miami witnessed the heartfelt farewell tribute honoring former United States Representative Carrie Meek this weekend.
The legislator’s family, friends and community joined local leaders at Booker T. Washington Senior High School to see her Sunday, 7 News reported
Mourners described the congresswoman, who died Nov. 28 at the age of 95 , as a political pioneer and a devoted mother.
Those present at the visit had the opportunity to express their love and gratitude for the beloved South Florida.
Words are not enough. She was extremely bright and hardworking, dedicated, but charming, ”said United States Representative Mario Díaz-Balart.
“She was someone who was able to draw attention to injustices in ways that others may not have paid attention to or could not bring about change,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
