This Saturday a fisherman was caught red-handed when he saw that the fishing he had violated the limits allowed to be able to capture. As reviewed by the WSNV web portal .

José Antonio Polo Molina, 40, was on the Long Key Bridge, with a bucket and a fishing rod.

At the time, Miami Navy officer Willie Guerra was on the scene and decided to inspect what was in the fisherman’s container.

Fisherman was 10 snappers under limit

When the official reviewed what Polo Molina had collected during the day, he noticed that 10 mangrove snappers were below the size allowed for fishing.

According to the laws of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, fish must not exceed 20 cm.

The ones that José Antonio Polo Molina had captured were barely 15 cm long, so they threatened their habitat.

court summons

After the incident, the fisherman will have to appear next week before the Florida Court, to give his arguments as to why he caught those fish if they did not exceed the allowed limit.

Willie Guerra indicated that this type of fishing should not be allowed, because it threatens the marine fauna of the state.

“We must conserve the species that exist today, damaging their ecosystem would be catastrophic in the near future,” said Guerra.
