This Thursday, Homeestead police issued a warrant for the arrest of a man who committed several anti-Semitic crimes.

The first incident occurred last May 9, when he broke into the Sheepdog Police Supply Store at 220 N. Krome AVE.

Then three months later the man appeared on the scene again this time vandalizing the exterior of ShowBiz Cinemas, which is located at 100 S. Krome Ave.

Man allegedly involved in third incident prior to Hannukkah

Homeestead police said the man was allegedly involved in an incident that occurred Saturday before the start of Hanukkah.

Officers said they found a sign outside the Homestead Jewish Center at 183 NE Eighth St. that read “GOYIM KNOW 88”.

Goy, or goyim in its plural form, is a Yiddish word for a gentile or non-Jewish person, which in some cases is derogatory.

Jewish Federation of Miami spoke out

Following the incident the Jewish Federation of Greater Miami and the Anti-Defamation League issued a statement indicating that the banner used shorthand references to neo-Nazi, white supremacist and far-right ideals.

“Hate crimes can target individuals or individual institutions, but they are usually done to send a message of fear and intimidation to entire communities, so entire communities must speak out against these insidious acts,” said Sarah Emmons, regional director of ADL Florida, in a statement.
