With ómicron being the most contagious variant of COVID-19 in the world to date, Miami-Dade officials want to prepare for its arrival in the community by ordering random testing of COVID-19 tests to detect the variant early.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced that COVID-19 testing with the Nomi laboratory now includes genetic sequencing detection of random positive samples, according to Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, reported Local10.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects to receive the data from Miami-Dade County for analyses that may influence decisions on travel bans and other prevention measures.
