This November, the until then Councilor Digna Cabral, assumed the Vice-Mayor of the City of Doral, in South Florida, thereby reiterating the future of the Dominicans in the United States, as elected public servants.

The Dominican mother of three and a valuable senior neurology researcher for the University of Miami School and Centers of Medicine hails from Santiago de los Caballeros, where she forged her high school education before leaving for New York to further her university studies.

Cabral is known for her professional skills and for being a dedicated activist on issues that keep the family at its center.

This public servant has also been a key piece in the economic boost enjoyed by the City of Doral, which thanks to important innovations has managed to be distinguished as the city with the highest growth in the State of Florida and among the Top- 50 cities to live or open a business across the United States.

The public servant, of what many have defined as exemplary management, is the only Dominican currently elected in the state of the Sun, where more than 200,000 Quisqueyanos and their descendants reside.

From her municipal district, initially as a councilor and now as Vice-Mayor, Digna Cabral represents a large population of Latinos who count on her and her political and social vision.

Among Venezuelans, Colombians, Cubans and Dominicans, Digna, as she likes to be called, have always seen in her, the vehicle from which important community and social issues are resolved.

Her faith and dedication to the community, whether from her parish Our Lady of Guadalupe serving via the Rotary Club or from the time she dedicates to neighborhood meetings and the organization of parents of her children’s school, this Dominican dignifies her profile as a public servant, as a helpful Dominican and, of course, as a Vice-Mayor.
